The president of the Broad Front, Fernando Pereira, confirmed that the mayor of Salto who was convicted of sexually abusing a 3-year-old girl was expelled from the political force.
“It can be clearly said that he is expelled from the Broad Front, and that we don’t want him in the FA,” Pereira said Thursday. “Nobody can justify an act of this kind; Justice acted and Justice rules”, added the president of the opposition party.
“When someone violates a three-year-old girl, forgive me, but there is no place for a front winger or for anyone,” he continued.
Rejection and condemnation
The Departmental Political Board of Salto released a statement indicating what Pereira said, emphasizing “the strongest repudiation and condemnation of the acts for which he has been sentenced as the perpetrator of a crime of sexual abuse of a minor” to the mayor in question.
“Our deep solidarity with the victim and her family, who unfortunately suffer the consequences of such aberrant events, the product of a macho and patriarchal society as a system of domination, oppression and subordination of women, girls and adolescents,” reads the document. .
Subsequently, it indicates that “we have decided to request the Court of Political Conduct to entrust, without further formalities, before the competent bodies, to immediately apply the maximum sanction, the expulsion of our political force.”
“Our commitment to ensure compliance with our anti-patriarchal principle, raising awareness about the actions inside and outside our organization, to contribute as a political force in society to eradicate gender violence, abuse of the most varied nature and any form of discrimination,” the statement continued.
“In the Broad Front there is no place for those who exercise gender-based violence,” he concludes.
