With the presence of the main leaders of the different sectors and with the participation of thousands of Frente Amplista militants, who came from everywhere, the Canelones spa dressed in red, blue and white this Sunday to celebrate the 52nd anniversary of the left-wing coalition .
The day began with a flag at Parada 24 and culminated with all the dancing. The speaking part was in charge of Sofía de Melo for the Youth, Susana Muñiz as president of the Canelones Department and Fernando Pereira, current president of the FA.
“Winds of change are blowing in Latin America and in Uruguay as well”
President Fernando Pereira began his speech by celebrating “unity”, “all of us front members remain united despite the catastrophes headlined in the newspapers.”
«Probably the right does not understand us. They told us that since 2019 we have been in the electoral campaign because they see acts like these. What they do not realize is that the Broad Front was not built as a party to compete for elections, it is an alternative project to the conservative right,” added Pereira.
«This year, against all odds, Lula was once again president and the joy of our hearts was enormous. It was a change in the geopolitics of Latin America. Hopefully the government has listened to Lula to find out what the insertion in the international market is like”, explained the president of the FA.
“Winds of change are blowing in Latin America and in Uruguay as well,” he added.
«We are living a complex moment in Uruguayan society; the FA is working on it calmly. What we are seeing is that we want to live in the country. The front is not going to do anything to harm democracy,” Pereira said.
Along these lines, he explained that this path implies being “tolerant.” «We analyze each word with the rancid right that wants to animalize us. We are not seals or caracaras, we are leftist militants, no one is more than anyone else,” he argued.
