September is the month of sweet memory and pleasant reflection; what greater joy than remembering who we are and, with a smile, looking to the future? The virtue of joy is gratitude and there is no greater demonstration of love than sharing joy with those you love. Thus, the importance of September lies in the memory of the best of the region: its people, its vision, its strength, its hospitality and its cooperation.
But if Venezuela and Argentina teach anything, it is that all progress can be lost if the society (particularly its leaders) forgets the fundamental bases that allowed the acceleration of development; let us remember that there is no fidelity without memory. How can we be faithful to Santa Cruz if we forget how its leaders acted to create the most prosperous and inclusive region in the country? How to look at the future with hope if we do not know who we are today, underestimating who is by our side?
Santa Cruz needs to build bridges and strengthen public-private dialogues; It is necessary to improve the adaptive efficiency of the region in the face of the constant and accelerated dynamics typical of the historical moment: demography, institutionality, territory and technology.
The key is, therefore, in our leaders and, mainly, in us.
But it is true that democracy is weakened and has lost credibility worldwide, which reconfirms the need to forge an agenda of minimum principles that make up a series of state policies at the municipal, metropolitan and departmental levels. If our leaders did it 60 years ago (in a much more adverse context), why couldn’t we do it today? The ability to look at each other and solve local problems has been and is a stronghold of Santa Cruz’s institutions.
The region has important challenges and, without entering into the great discussions of development, we could start from the small, from what is essential for families: operating licenses and construction permits, for example, for the simple fact that it is It is hard to imagine that small entrepreneurs and the most vulnerable families in the most prosperous region of the country have to suffer a local ordeal to be formal.
The challenge is not minor: it is necessary to build the bridges of September.
