Brazilian winger Dani Alves, recognized as the most successful footballer in the world, signed a contract with the Pumas from Mexico this Saturday to reinforce it from the Apertura 2022 tournament, which is already underway.

“Dani just had her physicals and it went very well which allows us to reach this moment of signing for its formal incorporation to the Pumas of the National University” said Leopoldo Silva, president of the Pumas, in the protocol act.

The signing of the contract took place in La Cantera, Pumas training facilities located south of Mexico City.

Dani Alves, 39 years old, stamped his signature on the document together with Leopoldo Silva and in the presence of Miguel Mejía Barón, sports vice president of the club.

Later it was led by the leaders to meet the squad.

Dozens of amateur members of the ‘Rebel’, one of the supporters of the Pumas, gathered on the field in advance to welcome Alves.

The legendary winger had posted on Instagram on Friday that he was “with the illusion of a child 15-year-old who leaves her house to fight to write a nice chapter in her story”.

His arrival on Friday did not go unnoticed by Mexican government authorities. “Welcome Daniel Alves! What good news for our team!” Marcelo Ebrard, Secretary of Foreign Affairs, posted on Twitter.

Also recognized as a fan of the Pumas, Claudia Sheinbaum, Head of Government of Mexico City, expressed on the same social network: “Welcome Dani Alves to the Pumas and to the City that has it all! It will be a pleasure to see you at the University Olympic Stadium.”

Dani Alves is considered the most successful footballer in the history of world football for lthe 44 titles won with the Bahia, Seville, Barcelona, ​​Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Sao Paulo clubs, and with the Brazilian national team.

Founded in 1954 and present in the first division of Mexican soccer since 1962the Pumas have been league champions on seven occasions; in the Clausura-2011 tournament they won their most recent title.

Dani Alves is the sixth reinforcement who joins the Pumas from the Apertura 2022 tournament. Before that, the Mexicans Gil Alcalá (goalkeeper), Adrián Aldrete (defense) and César Huerta (forward) and the Argentine attackers Eduardo Salvio and Gustavo del Prete arrived.
