With the appointment of the municipality of Montero as the special guest of the International Book Fair of Santa Cruz de la Sierra 2023, this Sunday night June 12 concluded the 23rd version of the event organized by the Santa Cruz Book Chamber.
“It is an honor for us and It is the opportunity to show the cultural richness, the traditions, the historians that we have in Montero. Peoples without culture are peoples without identity and we truly congratulate the FIL for encouraging traditions, cultures and reading and thus, among all the municipalities, we will have the honor that next year we will be showing our culture”, said Regys Medina, municipal mayor of Montero.

For its part, Andres Gonzalo Plazatreasurer of the Departmental Book Chamber of Santa Cruz made a brief summary of the 12 days of the FIL 2022.
“We managed to give our city the joy, for 12 days, of the Book Fair and without fear of being wrong, it is the largest in the country. We had to face numbers that seemed impossible to reach, because it must be said, this type of enterprise does not have the support of the national authorities, despite that we once again bet on words and books and today we are here. Our fair is multicultural, so we have to thank our guest country for its support, as well as the guest of honor municipality, Porongo, for having brought us all its traditions and cultural charm,” Plaza said.
The closing act began after 8:00 p.m. and was in charge of the Porongo Municipal Orchestra, which was in charge of entertaining the evening. In the act, the secretary of communication of the municipality of Porongo, Patricia Coca thanked the recognition granted to her by the organizing entity of the FIL for its outstanding participation as guest of honor municipality.
At the closing ceremony, it was also announced that in the coming days it will be known which country will be the guest of honor at FIL 2023.
