The Bolivian U-20 soccer team began its microcycle of
preparation in the city of La Paz, with an eye on the two friendly matches that will be held in Santa Cruz de la Sierra against their counterpart from Argentina, as part of the preparation for the South American of that category, which will be played in Peru on the 23rd. from January to February 16, 2025.Óscar Villegas, technical director of the national teams, is in charge of this category; However, when he was working with the senior team, he appointed the Argentine Jorge Perrotta as head coach. This will have the collaboration of Bernardo Aguirre and Clever Méndez.
“We want to earn hours of work with them. We have a great coaching staff with whom we are going to transmit what we are looking for. The important thing is to prepare a good future for the country in terms of minor divisions,” said Villegas, who also assured that this category will be sparring for the senior team in soccer practices.
The U-20 team will have about 10 days of intense work before facing Argentina in the capital of Santa Cruz, on Thursday, November 14 and Saturday, November 16. After these matches, other friendlies are not ruled out, since the objective is to reach the continental competition with a good run, where La Verde will be part of Group B along with Brazil, Colombia, Chile and Ecuador.
Villegas’ coaching staff called up 26 players, five of them from abroad: defenders Marcelo Tórrez from Santos from Brazil and Lucas Macazaga from Leganés B from Spain; the midfielders Nathan Tito, from Platense (Argentina), Óscar López from Mallorca (Spain) and the forward Braian Mamani, from Atlético Tucumán (Argentina).
