The main challenge for livestock production is how to go through a winter that since the end of summer is going to be very difficult., consequence of the drought. Management decisions must be made based on the availability of food and its costs. With that as a framework, corn at US$300 a ton is far from the equilibrium price to supplement calves, which is US$230 to US$240, considers Juan Clariget, a researcher at the National Institute for Agricultural Research (INIA).
