"The best thing is that there is harmony in international relations": Attorney Gregorio Eljach

The attorney Gregorio Eljach He spoke after President Gustavo Petro’s decision to order the expulsion of Israel’s diplomatic delegation in the country, after the justice of that country stopped two members of the Colombian mission who participated in the Global Sumud flotilla.

“You have to respect it and fulfill it. (…) Harmony in international relations (…) The best thing is that there is harmony in international relations, especially when there are business, trade, public investment, private, supply of goods that we do not produce, “Eljach said.

The head of the control body also referred to the decision made by the United States government to revoke the visa to the Colombian head of state. The attorney Eljach said that said decision should not be discussed.

“Each State is sovereign to grant the transit to those who wish or not want, to that extent the decision of the American State is not discussed,” he said.

His statements were given in the middle of the assembly of mayors of intermediate cities, (Asointermedias) that took place in Bogotá where he sent a message to all mayors.

“Regardless of the ideology that each one wants to coat, the political platform or the ideological conception, who help with better conditions for the population,” said Gregorio Eljach.

On the armed actors in the territories, he called to handle “a language consistent with what happens, not to continue with those medium complacing and disguised expressions (…) It must be said here a guy a guy manufactured of such and it is an organized armed group and they are criminals, you have to put things in order and call them by name,” he said.

The attorney also reiterated that there must be free, transparent, appropriate and safe elections and will have to “respect the final result that announced the Registry (…) We cannot allow it to interfere with the will of the voter,” he said.
