To those who visit a sick friend and prepare food.
To those who visit the streets distributing coffee, a sandwich or a cookie, and give tenderness to the inhabitants of the streets.
To those who go to hospitals and carry fruit or other food … also a smile.
To those who go to prisons and visit those who suffer from solitude …
To those who carry chocolates and flowers, to the name of this world, who work in prostitution. And their name is asked and they are given a blessing with a flower.
To all those who have decided to live a banquet with whom nobody wants to share it. To human beings full of tenderness and leave themselves to live the joy of sharing.
Sharing, serving and loving is the fortune of the human being. It is not a social act, it is not a theory, or ideology. It is the simplest and greatest work to be happy.
Jesus Christ, the Lord, gathered his twelve friends, and washed their feet, broke their bread and said: There is no bigger love than the one who gives life for friends. The happiness of Jesus was to serve, to live his vocation and mission. Therefore, when you see a dad playing with his children, running, feeding them, worrying about them, generates emotion and joy. Dad and mother are taking care of them, forget themselves in order to serve their children. And seeing them well, makes them happy.
Jesus’ dinner is nothing other than the path of happiness. Only who is capable of washing his brothers, his friends, understands the sense of living. There are health professionals who do not have the best salaries, and work precariously in health systems, helping and healing their people.
Recently some friends had a painful situation on the eve to celebration of their wedding. They lived a scam. However, they did not lose joy, their family and friends, they moved to solve the details that were needed for the wedding. I witnessed the love. The scam only lighting the goodness. There before these two boyfriends, with the illusion of marrying, I saw friends washing their feet, taking care of them and serving them. There was genuine happiness. The bride said: God never left us alone. When everything became dark, God gave us more than we imagined. Jesus through his friends and family, took care of them, loved him. They were washed their feet.
Jesus left the bread and gave them to his disciples saying: Take and eat this is my body that is delivered by you. And then I take the chalice full of wine and said, drink and drink, this is my blood that is delivered by their sins. Spliting bread is one of the greatest and most difficult realities in life. It is not easy to leave the bread if we think it rationally. And from the selfish society that the media promote us, to talk about spending my time to serve another, it does not look beneficial. They are teaching us the culture of selfishness. Therefore, it is a challenge today to leave bread. Free yourself from selfish ideologies, get to meet the other and spend time and even resources to serve, it has a bigger sense, it is called happiness.
Jesus broke the bread, multiplied it, saved the crowds. But specifically at a dinner, he wanted the disciples to be aware. There was Judas, who betrayed him. Jesus did not separate him from the table. The opposite, he also washed his feet, and I also love him. He who loves, is not thinking if they will thank him or not. And although betrayal hurts, but the one who is in love continues to love. He who wants to serve, does it with love.
Brothers and friends, in this blessed life that God gave us. That we are not afraid to love. Let us become happy. Every day, even if we are wrong, that our intention is to make others happy. And don’t forget that the secret of happiness is in the great sharing of sharing. Wash the feet who needs it. You will do it and you will be happy.
There is no greater love than the one who gives life for his friends.
