The balance of the first 60 days of the Ministry of Education

The Minister of Education, Alejandro Gaviriaassured that in the first two months of the Petro Government, the sector has made progress on different issues in education.

In front of the budget, the minister assured that they will adallocate almost $30 billion from the General Participation System, to pay the payroll of the teachers and nurture the Fomag for the payment of the social benefits of the teaching profession.

In addition, they will be allocated about $8 billion for public universities. Additionally, the head of the education portfolio assured that thanks to an adjustment in the General Budget of the Nation for next year, resources were increased to improve the infrastructure of public universities and school-level institutions.

“For school infrastructure, there are an additional $500,000 million that are added to those already brought by the General Budget of the Nation to start this great program focused on rural improvement,” said the official.

Among other issues, in the first two months of the Government there was talk of studying an adjustment to the stock of resources in the sector.

Also addressed was the need to reform Law 30 of 1992 that defines the resources and distribution for higher education, and the transformation of Icetex was raised, these being the challenges of the Ministry, assured Gaviria.
