For this Tuesday, April 4, the start of the trial against Mariana Tania Giammarco Yanni, accused of attempted intentional homicide to the detriment of Gilberto Correa, who was the host of Sábado Sensacional, a program broadcast by Venevisión, according to judicial sources, has been called.
The first hearing was convened by the 18th Trial Court headed by Ghilda Molina Carrillo, whose office is located in the Palace of Justice in Caracas.
This trial was ordered by the 6th Court of Control of Caracas where the preliminary hearing was held on February 6, an act in which the accusation presented by the Public Ministry was debated. At the end of that hearing, the Court accepted the prosecutor’s accusation and ordered Giammarco Yani to go to trial, who, in addition to murder, is being prosecuted for unlawful deprivation of liberty.
The history
The events occurred between 2021 and 2022. It all begins when Gilberto Correa gets divorced, is left alone at home and his children look for Mariana Giammarco to take care of him, according to the accusation document presented by the Public Ministry before the 6th Control Court.
Apparently, Mariana Giammarco began to isolate Correa to the point of prohibiting him from visiting his friends, as well as going out on the street, according to police investigations.
In addition, Giammarco was in charge of supplying him with the medication prescribed by a neurologist, and which he allegedly altered.
Faced with this situation, Gilberto Correa went to a justice of the peace in the Baruta municipality (Miranda) and later reported the matter to the Public Ministry.
The Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation and for this reason sent a team from the Criminal Unit to evaluate the health of Gilberto Correa. At the same time, the Cicpc carried out expert reports, which showed an increase in the dose of the medicines supplied to the entertainer.
The scientific police also determined that Giammarco wrote prescriptions to support the increase in medical doses. The neurologist denied having ordered these dosages. “Of 25 milligrams of Ketiapina prescribed, Gilberto was given 400 milligrams; dose that can put an elephant to sleep”, explained a judicial source.
Both Gilberto Correa and his driver have protection measures ordered by a court as a result of two violent episodes allegedly committed by Giammarco.
