Apparently a senior officer would have sent several soldiers to “place wires and blades so that the cats would bleed” but a neighbor observed and was able to save the animals.

According to who made the situation public, the anonymous complaint was made by the soldiers, who reported on the alleged and sadistic ‘order’ of their superior.
They stated that “the purpose was to kill them.”
“Since they could not be poisoned because my Colonel Royero, the new commander, has two dogs, they ordered us to place wire and blades around the walls and ceiling so that the cats would bleed, but a neighbor saved them,” they reported through one of the publications in networks.

Response of the army and the Minister of Defense
There were many people who joined to viralize the complaint and managed to be heard by the authorities.
One of them was the activist and animalist Rosa Juliana Herrera, who appealed to the Minister of Defense, Diego Molano, for the public complaint they are making against the high command of the La Popa Battalion.
Faced with this call, the minister replied: “I have instructed the battalion commander to immediately investigate the complaint and if it is confirmed, take the corrective measures in the case.”

For its part, from the Tenth Brigade, Military Unit of the First Division of the National Army issued a statement denying the complaint and in turn, omitting the existence of the two affected cats.
They indicated that the feline arrived in July at the home of the commander of the Artillery Battalion # 2 La Popa with a laceration on his neck.
For this reason, the wife of the high official took him to a veterinary center, where he was treated.
According to release, the cat is in the city of Bogotá, in the company of its owner and in optimal health conditions.
They also invited not to join in the misinformation and reiterated their commitment to the lives of animals.
Given all that has happened, it only remains to wait for an official opinion to clarify the specific fact.
