"The artisans are paid 30,000 and here they are sold for 160,000," a woman complains about "very expensive" rag bags at the Bogota airport

Woman who complained about rag bags at El Dorado Airport.

Users on social networks took accounts of what the client said and left her a clear message.

Colombian News.

A user of the El Dorado Airport in Bogotá recorded a video that has generated divided opinions on social networks.

The woman, apparently before taking her flight that would take her to her destination, walked through the different commercial premises that the air terminal has, observing some items and their prices. In one of those commercial establishments, she was struck by the cost of some t-shirt bags, a very cheap fabric, ideal for making bags, baskets, puffs.

“I am in the stores where Colombian handicrafts are resold at the airport, these bags are made by artisan women from Tasajeras, Magdalena, here they sell them for between $150,000 and $200,000 pesos,” said the user of the air terminal.

The young woman said that at some point she visited Tasajera and those same bags are sold for $30,000.

“It is the women who make them… directly support the artisans,” she invited people with her clip from El Dorado.

The following are the images of his reflection:

divided opinions

After what was said by the traveler, Internet users reacted to the accounts she made about the difference between the purchase and sale between the producer and the marketer.

For many, the young woman who recorded the images must take into account that a rental at the El Dorado Airport in Bogotá can cost a lot of money. Added to that, public services and fixed costs such as employees and others, make the product more expensive, which in this case are rag bags.

«Good data, but whoever sells it at the airport, pays rent for the premises, services, administration, employees. Obviously it must be more expensive.
Also add to that, that you buy a dozen bags, you make a considerable investment, and it takes time to recover your money», «I imagine, that the rent, the transportation, the payment of taxes, the salary of the person who attends the position, the stock and others, do not increase the value of the craft at all”, “Well, look for a place in the airport to see if selling them for 30 can pay all the expenses that a business has”, expressed a user of networks.

In his favor

Meanwhile, other people agreed that the manufacturers of these handicrafts should ‘put a better price on their products since sometimes other sellers triple and even quadruple their profits with the same item.

“This is what happens with local crafts, they pay little and sell at a high price, what a sad reality”, “Some pay $600,000 for fried sausages, now that they don’t pay $160,000 for a bag”, “Whoever wants to buy them at the airport I bought them, whoever can directly support the artisans who do it”, “The artisans must charge $80,000 even if it is from wholesalers because the distributors speculate on the prices”, “She is a person who is only giving an opinion and is asking for support from women from the corregimiento de tasajera, all of us from the coast know that tasajera lives in oblivion, surrounded by garbage, without drinking water and with few opportunities”, They commented on networks.

On the other hand, some expressed their point of view and stated that the client’s real intention was to publicize the beautiful handicrafts made by artisan women in Tasajera, Magdalena, a town that for many years has been submerged in poverty and in the forgetfulness of its leaders.

“Let’s support the local economy of vulnerable communities. Tasajeras Artisans: 3017316466 Johana Ovalle”, published a contact number on the page Noti Sabanalarga.
