The “arrogance” of Morenistas risks majority in the 2027 elections: PT coordinator

In some “dogmatic sectors” of Morena, the “germ of arrogance” is still present that makes them think that they do not need their allies, which entails the potential risk of the 4T losing the qualified majority in Congress in the 2027 elections, warned the coordinator of the PT bench in San Lázaro, Reginaldo Sandoval Flores.
In interview with The Day, He pointed out that one of the pending tasks of the majority coalition in 2026 is to strengthen ties to prevent the above from happening again, as happened in 2021.
“We must reach agreements by 2027. What is at stake is the Congress of the Union and it already happened to us in the midterm of 2021, where due to errors, especially by Morena and the PVEM – who were infatuated with us not going together –, we ended up losing two thirds (in the Legislative Branch) and the opponents declared a moratorium on reforms,” he recalled.
That experience must be taken up again “with humility and self-criticism so that we do not fail because we are in a peaceful struggle to win will through conviction. It is important to remember and analyze it to be able to continue on this path” of the alliance between the three majority parties, the PT legislator stressed.
For Sandoval Flores, in the coalition “the factor that generates the most noise is pride. In life it is dangerous and in politics, deadly. You think you can do it alone, that we don’t need each other, and I think the three parties need each other. But if Morena starts saying that she can do it alone, she will make a serious mistake.”
The Zacatecan insisted that “in some dogmatists in Morena I see the germ of arrogance, and I hope that it manages to stay at bay. I think that President Claudia Sheinbaum is in a good position and knowledge (on the issue of the alliance); I have full faith and trust in her and I hope that she manages to imbue Morenoism with her orientation and we reach good agreements.”
In relation to the issue of the electoral reform that the federal president will propose and that will be discussed soon in Congress, he indicated that until the document with the respective initiative arrives, he will not give his opinion on the issue, although he announced that in his party “we will not accompany or support the reduction of democracy. What we want is to expand it, make it more participatory.”
Likewise, he called on the governments emanating from the coalition to “move to the left, not to the center or the right,” to comply with the postulates that led them to triumph at the polls.
