The Alianza Rebelde Investiga (ARI) program has the support of the Colegio Integral Ávila and the Centro de Artes Integrales of the Universidad Metropolitana. Includes master classes on journalism, digital narratives, rights and democracy taught by journalists and specialized professors
In order to keep communities informed through narratives and platforms, the Rebel Alliance Investigates (ARI) launched this October 19 the training program «Room influencers« in the spaces of the Center for Integral Arts of the Metropolitan University (Unimet) aimed at young people from various communities in Caracas.
The program, whose duration is six months until March 22, 2023, expects to train 25 adolescents from four educational units: Escuela Caucagüita, Corazón de María, José Félix Ribas and Fundo Maturín, aged between 12 and 18 years. .
This alliance will allow young people to understand responsible and contextualized information management, using audiovisual tools such as videos and podcasts, as well as journalistic resources such as the production of school and community newspapers.
The pilot plan organized by ARI is led by the journalist Carmen Riera and the coordinator of special projects of the Colegio Integral El Ávila at the Metropolitan University, Mireya Acrich.
In the presentation that kicked off the project, Carmen Riera, coordinator of the project, pointed out that one of the goals was to achieve a solutions journalism approach by students and work with hyperlocal news topics. “We are going to focus on what is around us, we will look at the communities, at work, at school and in our family,” she emphasized.
The students will receive training on various topics, from understanding values with Valentina Betancourt, the journalistic approach with Gabriela Rojas, a journalist from TalCual, audiovisual practices and digital narratives with Daniel Colimodio and Yenson Santos, body language and the position of the “influencer” as a medium, with María Eva Otero, the use of social networks with Carlos Machado, Human rights with Robiro Terán and Alejandro Terán and democracy as a tool with Gabriel Santana.
For the director of Colegio Integral El Ávila, Carlos Cedeño, this opportunity is essential for the future of the 25 participants. “This project captivated me, I identified it as a treasure for our teenagers and I am confident that the team that will train them will make it shine like a treasure,” he said.
“Influencer room” will promote freedom of expression serving as a framework for the dissemination of information, promoting the creation of collaborative, original and creative works that at the end of the semester will be evaluated by the directors of El Pitazo, TalCual and Runrun.es for subsequent publication as a Rebel Alliance Special Investigate.
