The appointment of Marcos Schiavi as the new National Electoral Director was formalized

Schiavi is a doctor in History.

Marcos Schiavi was appointed this Friday as the new head of the National Electoral Directorate (DINE) to replace Diana Quiodo, who formalized her resignation weeks ago to resume her diplomatic career.

Through Administrative Decision 261/2022 published in the Official Gazette, the appointment of Schiavi, trusted man of the Minister of the Interior, Eduardo “Wado” de Pedro, was made official.

The objective in the DINE is to sustain the work carried out in the last elections

During the last two years, the new official played a central role in the negotiations between the national government and the Buenos Aires administration of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta in the disputes over the transfer of funds and public land during the macrismo.

Close to the new official, they affirm that the objective in the DINE is to support the work carried out in the last elections “when the opposition itself highlighted the transparency” of the elections.

Doctor in History, Schiavi was also part of the team from the Ministry of the Interior that worked on the primaries and general elections of 2021.
