The Ministry of Transport through the ANSV (National Road Safety Agency) will carry out the Federal Breathalyzer operation in the next five days, within the framework of the extra-long weekend.
Given the Carnival celebrations, many citizens will go out on the routes to the main destinations in the country, so the ANSV will reinforce the controls in all the provinces, in addition, the organism It will seek that there are no drunk drivers behind the wheel.
The ANSV explained that this will be the operation number 27 of Federal Breathalyzer. This will be carried out on routes throughout the country, together with the provinces and municipalities.
In this regard, the executive director of the agency, Pablo Martínez Carignano said: “This 27th edition of Federal Breathalyzer It will be 5 days in a row, to spend the whole long weekend looking for no drivers driving under the influence of alcohol, raising awareness and caring for the lives of all people who travel through the country”.
For his part, the Minister of Transportation of the Nation, Diego Giuliano, said: “From the organizations that are part of the Ministry of Transportation we continue to redouble our efforts to make circulation on public roads safe for everyone, especially in the busiest moments, as this long Carnival holiday will be”.
And he added that they are going to “look for that 4% of people who still do not understand the risks of drinking and driving to raise awareness and sanction that 3% that goes further and exceeds the limits that the law still allows, until the National Senate approve Zero Alcohol”.
From the organism They recalled that “During the first edition of this 2023, which was held on January 28, more than 10,000 controls were carried out. Of the total tests carried out, 3% of the drivers gave a positive breathalyzer. The positive cases were mostly men and under 45 years of age. The tests that showed zero alcohol at the wheel represented 96% of the cases”.
How will the operation
On the country’s main routes, personnel from the ANSV Conduct breathalyzer tests on drivers. The controls will be carried out simultaneously in all the provinces of the country from this Friday until next Tuesday.
