The ANMAT (National Administration of Drugs, Food and Medical Technology), reported through its Official Gazette that the production and marketing of six canned products is prohibited.
The organism notified that it began an investigation following a complaint from a consumer, who observed irregularities in the products. Consequently, the ANMAT began an audit of the Don Mario brand products “Búfalo – Canned Delicacies”.
According to research conducted by the ANMAT“the product has a non-existent registration and the RNE belongs to the establishment ‘Cooperativa Agropecuaria y Apícola de Centeno Ltda. Coopaac‘, enabled for the production of fermented alcoholic beverages and registers only craft beers”.
In addition, it was found that it is an Entre Ríos establishment “Similar products were sold labeled as chicken with pepper, beef, pork, pickled pine mushrooms and pickled oyster mushrooms, all branded ‘Don Mario – Preserved Delicacies’, with RNE No. 21-114610, different from that of the denounced product, and RNPA No. 21-115891″.
Likewise, the entity verified in its records that “there is no establishment or food product authorized for canned products corresponding to the Don Mario brand.”
Consequently, the ANMAT determined that there was “an infringement of article 3 of Law 18284, article 3 of Annex II of Decree 2126/71 and articles 6 bis, 13 and 155 of the Argentine Food Code (CAA)”.
