This Wednesday, the National Administration of Drugs, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT)through its official bulletin announced that the production and marketing of a brand of sunflower oil is prohibited.
This, as indicated the entityfor considering the product as illegal, since the ANMAT seeks to protect the health of citizens, since the oil did not have current health records.
In its newsletter ANMAT banned “sunflower oil, brand: Aceitera Luna, Net Cont. 4.5 litersRNE N° 01000585, RNPA N° 01012999, Lot September 2021, consume preferably before December 2023”.
This, given that the product “fractionated by Aceitera Luna SRL, Rodríguez Peña 2338, San Martín, pcia. de Buenos Aires” does not comply with current regulations, so it must be taken out of circulation throughout the country.
What did the ANMAT find to ban the oil brand
The organism was able to establish thatthe product violates the Argentine Food Code (CAA) due to the lack of establishment and product records”.
This, after carrying out an investigation in which it was found that an oil company does not operate at the registered address, even the establishment remains closed and does not refer to opening hours.
“The Directorate of Food Industries and Products (DIPA) carried out an inspection at the address that is displayed on the oil label and was able to verify that the place was closed,” said the ANMAT.
For this reason, the entity decided that “because it is a product that cannot be reliably and clearly identified as produced, processed and/or fractionated in a specific establishment, it cannot be produced anywhere in the country.”
Nor can it be “commercialized or sold in the territory of the Republic”, since as it lacks registration, it turns out to be an illegal product, which puts the health of consumers at risk.
The rule also establishes “the prohibition of the sale throughout the national territory of all those products that display on their labels the sanitary registrations RNE No. 01000585 and RNPA No. 01012999”.
