The Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA) received in the first semester $71,390 million in subsidies for passenger transport, concentrating 75.8% of the country’s totala record slightly higher than the 75.1% registered in the same period of 2021.

The information was released by the consulting firm Politikon Chaco, based on data from the Ministry of Transportin a report that highlights that In second place was Córdoba, a considerable distance away, since it received $4,035 in the same period. millions.

“Adjusted by population, the difference between the AMBA and the provinces is more than notable: between said jurisdiction and the province that receives the most per capita, there is a gap of 255%”highlighted Politikon.

In that sense, he specified that “the consolidated of the 24 jurisdictions showed a rise of 0.2% real, but explained by the situation of AMBA (+1.3%) while the provinces as a whole fell 3.3%”.

the gap grows

The entity directed by Alejandro Pegoraro added that “within the framework of the requests from governors, mainly from the Norte Grande, in relation to the need to expand the funds allocated to subsidies for public transport, data from the Ministry of Transport of the Nation show that , far from narrowing the distribution gap, it widened in favor of AMBA and in this way, the demanding asymmetries in the distribution continue to be in force and strengthened”.

Likewise, although it recognizes that the year-on-year increase in the resources allocated to the AMBA was not significant, “it aggravates the situation of disproportionality claimed by the provinces”, which as a whole “They captured $ 22,746 million, and went from participating from 24.9% in the period January – July 2021, to 24.2% in the same period of 2022.”

After the aforementioned cases of AMBA and Córdoba, the transfers to the provinces of subsidies for passenger transport (excluding funds for the use of the SUBE card) found in third place to Santa Fe with $3,072 million, followed by Mendoza ($2,317 million), Tucumán ($2,055 million), Salta ($1,725 million), interior of Buenos Aires ($1,410 million), Jujuy ($1,074 million ) and San Juan ($1,047 million).

Less than a billion

With less than one billion pesos of subsidies in the first half of the year included Misiones ($941 million), Entre Ríos ($766 million), Chaco ($714 million), Corrientes ($624 million), Santiago del Estero ($594 million), Chubut ($489 million ), San Luis ($433 million), Neuquén ($4,397 million), Catamarca ($317 million), Río Negro ($297 million), Formosa ($177 million), La Rioja ($168 million) and La Pampa ( $90 million).

Politikon explained that “for issues related to the signing of agreements and accountability Santa Cruz received $3 million in January and did not raise funds for the rest of the yearwhile Tierra del Fuego did not receive resources so far this year in relation to Compensated Funds.

“The AMBA, with $4,897 per inhabitant, leads the per capita allocation by many heads, and its influence drags the national average in such a way that all the provinces are located below it, making clear the phenomenal asymmetry in the distribution of resources”, remarked the consultant.

Jujuy, San Juan, Tucuman, Salta, Mendoza and Cordoba registered subsidies above $1,000 per inhabitantwhile Santa Fe, San Luis, Chubut, Catamarca, Misiones, Santiago del Estero, Neuquén, Chaco, Corrientes and Entre Ríos were between $500 and $900 per inhabitant.
