The agenda of the ‘Defense Fronts’ coordinated by Castillo and comrade ‘Cusi’

In that meeting, a group of self-styled ‘social leaders’ outlined the agenda that they should follow in the following years to achieve their objectives. A large part of the participants had been imprisoned for belonging to Sendero Luminoso, the most boisterous was Rocío Leandro, alias comrade ‘Cusi’, who was convicted of terrorism in the 1990s and is currently being detained for having fueled violence at the airport. from Ayacucho.

This first assembly was organized and directed by the Executive Committee of Fredepa – commanded until a few days ago by ‘Cusi’ – and in it it was proposed to promote “the proposal for a new Constitution through a Constituent Assembly with popular participation”. To achieve this, they agreed to the creation of a national organization and established a ‘fight plan’ of which, since last December, all Peruvians have been witnesses.

The former head of the Dircote Óscar Arriola recalled in an interview with this newspaper that, since 2006, the Movadef –the organization in which ex-convicts for terrorism seek to recycle– has been promoting a Constituent Assembly through its generated organizations. “The idea arose when Abimael Guzmán, from prison, informed his hosts about ‘the five programmatic axes’ designed by the party to achieve a fundamental policy to fight for a peace agreement,” said the PNP general. The truth is that, since then, the hikers have been promoting this idea through their media and social networks.

In the meeting that we describe in this chronicle, with Pedro Castillo at the table of honor and ‘Cusi’ in the first row, the supporters of Gonzalo Thought planned to first achieve four objectives: “Unite the Peruvian people against the plans of the State and imperialism ”, “politicize and organize the people to fight unifiedly for a new Constitution through a Constituent Assembly”, “constitute a national organization that fights for social change” and “strengthen the Defense Fronts and popular organizations for the defense of the rights of the town”. Pure rhetoric that only hides the Marxist, Maoist, Senderista ideology.

“Many believe that the Fronts are a common citizen expression. But it is not a concept that arises by chance”, warns the former agent of the Special Intelligence Group (Gein), Jose Luis Gil.

“The three instruments of the revolution since the eighties are: The party, that is, the leaders and the entire leadership system, the popular guerrilla army to lead the struggles of the masses, and the front. The latter is organized and unorganized society. Within the organized part are the political fronts and defense fronts. It should bear the name front because it is the third instrument of the Shining Path revolution”, says Gil.

THE FREDEPA DE GUZMÁN

In his book Memories from Nemesis, the terrorist leader Abimael Guzmán recalls the creation of Fredepa in 1966 – the organizing front of the Assembly of Defense Fronts that took place before Sendero Luminoso began “the armed struggle” – and its functionality by Communist Party of Peru Shining Path.

“The Ayacucho People’s Defense Front was formed to fight for popular demands of the different classes and layers, mainly from the neighborhoods and neighborhoods of Ayacucho, as well as demands from the city and the region. The Front was organized with the movements and approval of the national leadership of the Party (SL); and it has no relationship with the so-called “fronts for the defense of the interests of the people” later created by Patria Roja that, riding on the regionalist demands, served their electoral interests,” Guzmán Reinoso said in his publication.

The concept of the Defense Front managed by the Shining Path was diluted after the capture of Abimael Guzmán. Since 2006, when the Bolivarian Continental Coordinator, Peru Chapter –a construction of 21st century socialism– began to intervene in our country and made contact with Conare –the organization that would later found Movadef–, Sendero resumed its Fronts and extended them throughout the country, displacing those created by Patria Roja.

After 2018, the Fronts organized by Movadef were unified in a single purpose, and with the arrival of Castillo to power in 2021, they further accelerated the objectives that were raised in their first assembly.

In July 2021, with Castillo already proclaimed president, the Movadef Fronts met again to define their position. “We reaffirm the fight for a new democratic and popular Constitution through a Constituent Assembly, in merit and credit to the electoral campaign promises of the current president (Castillo) that led him to electoral victory and by virtue of which we express an organic institutional support agreed in our national assembly”, they signed.

In that meeting, the leaders of the Fronts made it clear that they want to change the Constitution because it is a “necessary and fundamental strategic step to propose new rules of the game that allow us to recover our wealth and natural resources.”

But Pedro Castillo punctured the balloon; He carried out a coup, he was removed from the presidency and “the cow” (democracy) that they were going to distribute after “killing” her, she continued to live, but she has been constantly threatened with death.
