The AFA says goodbye to Menotti at the Messi complex

He was the man who laid the foundation stone for the Argentine national teams. From César Luis Menotti, the albiceleste improvisations ended and space was opened for organization, for seriousness. Then came the conquest of the ’78 World Cup with him, the ’86 with Carlos Bilardo and Qatar 2022 with Lionel Scaloni. For this reason the AFA did not hesitate and immediately put the Lionel Andrés Messi complex available for Flaco’s wake.

Menotti will be fired on the Ezeiza property, in the same space where all the Argentine teams train and gather and which named after Leo for just over a year. Within this site that encompasses various buildings, the futsal microstadium was chosen as the setting where a former coach will be said goodbye.

Flaco’s wake will be held this Tuesday, between 3 and 10 p.m. Spanish time. Access to the media will not be allowed. Only family members, friends and prominent football personalities will be authorized to enter.

Huracán, a club that was champion with Menotti as coach in 1973, had offered its stadium for Flaco’s funeral. There was also speculation about carrying it out in the National Congress. However, in the end the ideal place was chosen: the AFA and the complex that bear Messi’s name.
