Colombian popular music is in mourning after the death of the singer Yeison Jimenezwhich occurred this Saturday in a plane accident in Boyacá. The artist was traveling in a small plane that crashed in the sector between Paipa and Duitama, an accident in which the six occupants of the aircraft died. The information was confirmed by aeronautical authorities, who activated investigation protocols to establish the causes of the incident.
Yeison Jiménez, one of the most influential voices of the genre in the last decade, had managed to consolidate a solid career, with national and international tours and millions of followers on digital platforms. His direct style and lyrics full of personal experiences made him a reference for a generation that was reflected in his stories of struggle, heartbreak and perseverance.
Before achieving fame, the singer’s life was marked by effort from a very young age. At the age of 14 he worked in Corabastos, in Bogotá, doing informal jobs to help his family and get ahead. That stage of sacrifice shaped his character and his vision of life, elements that would later be reflected in his songs and in the close discourse he always maintained with his audience.
The song “El Aventurero” was the song that definitively catapulted his career and positioned him at the top of Colombian popular music.
