Before achieving fame, the singer’s life was marked by effort from a very young age. At the age of 14 he worked in Corabastos, in Bogotá, doing informal jobs to help his family and get ahead. That stage of sacrifice shaped his character and his vision of life, elements that would later be reflected in his songs and in the close discourse he always maintained with his audience.

The song “El Aventurero” was the song that definitively catapulted his career and positioned him at the top of Colombian popular music. With that single, Yeison Jiménez went from being an emerging artist to becoming a nationally recognized figure, managing to be played on radio stations, cantinas and stages throughout the country.

“I am a wanderer who walks around the world wasting love” and the chorus that says “And I like partying / I like women / Listening to a good band / And enjoying my pleasures,” says one of the verses of the song.

Today, followers, colleagues and family mourn his departure and remember his musical and human legacy. Yeison Jiménez leaves a deep mark on popular music, not only for his successes, but for the story of improvement that he represented: that of a young worker who, from Corabastos, managed to fulfill the dream of making a living from music and conquering the hearts of millions.
