The sixth version of the adidas Santa Cruz de la Sierra Marathon was officially launched this Thursday night on the 27th floor of the MSC Business Tower. Lola Group, the event’s producer and organizer, announced that the pedestrian test will take place on Sunday, September 17, the day on which it is expected to have more than 4,000 participants.
“On Sunday the 17th we want all Bolivians to participate, either running or encouraging, four distances are available for this: 5K, 10K, 21K and 42K”, said the marketing manager of the Fair Play Group, Mariana Aguilera.
“It will be a sporting event with all the canons and international requirements. Warm-up shows, fruit buffet area, cryotherapy area, hydration points, ambulances, control and security throughout the route coordinated with the Autonomous Municipal Government, the Autonomous Departmental Government of Santa Cruz, the Police Departmental Command and the Transit Operating Agency”, reported Katya Fuertes, general manager of Lola Group.
Registrations for those who wish to participate in the event will start on Saturday, July 1 in all Fair Play stores nationwide and through the website www.maratonsantacruzdelasierra.com.bo.
The inscriptionss cost Bs 220 for the 5K and 10K, while Bs 270 is the cost for the 21K and 42K. Participants in all categories will take their competitor kit, which consists of a backpack, adidas shirt, bib number, a chip, a runner’s manual and gifts from the sponsors.
At 5:00 the 42K athletes will start; then it will be the turn of the 21K competitors, who will leave at 6:30; while the 10K and 5K will start at 7:00. The start and finish will be at the Cambódromo, about 300 meters from the fourth ring.
The adidas Santa Cruz de la Sierra Marathon will pass by El Cristo, Plaza 24 de Septiembre, Central Urban Park, Madre India, among a few places to mention.
“Up to the date of the competition there are several activities planned, among them the launch of the official shirt to take place in August and the Expomarathon between September 14 and 16”, commented Fuertes.
This test is certified since the fourth version, the authentication was awarded by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF)which is the governing body for this sport in the world, together with the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), which is in charge of fostering and promoting long-distance races.
“Thanks to the Santa Cruz Marathon, Bolivian runners have the opportunity to get official marks facing international competitions”, said Ariel Raguzzi, technical director of the marathon.
Raguzzi recommended that people go to take part in the marathon, undergo a pre-sports medical examination to know the level of your condition and prevent any type of cardiovascular events during exercise.
