“We will be working on those tools and elements that are required so that there are more and more women in managerial positions, on boards of directors and of course, one of the elements that we have discussed with its different actors and regulators is that this also has to come accompanied by public policies,” Becker said.
The also general director Mifel stressed that it is necessary that the 50 banks that operate in Mexico must subrogate and have nurseries so that women can access these positions.
“That there is an entire protection system so that women can work and when in their maternity period they do not have to change their (labour) course,” he stressed.
Becker also said work permits for fathers should be expanded. In this way, care work does not only fall on women and they can dedicate time to their professional career. “It seems to us that talking about paternity, about possible periods of absence of paternity become fundamental.”
The leader of the bankers said that these plans will not be in a decalogue or a document that is mandatory for the banks, since making mandatory measures generates the wrong incentives.
“I believe that more than a code, it is truly a responsibility that we have as banks and there is also a World Bank study that says that if there were gender equity in management, the Gross Domestic Product at a global level could be 20 points more” , said.
The banker announced that at the Banking Convention, which will be held on March 24 and 25, there will be an announcement about granting credit to women.
