How to process the digital card?
1. Enter the Registry Portal
Visit www.registraduria.gov.co and go to the “digital card” section.
2. Make the payment (if applied)
If you already have a physical card and wish the digital duplicate, you must pay the corresponding value. You can do it online through PSE or in authorized entities. If it is your first ID at 18, you should not pay.
3. Schedule your appointment or go directly (as appropriate)
For duplicates, you can go without appointment to any headquarters of the Registry. For the first time, it is also attended without agendation, by order of arrival.
4. Present yourself at the headquarters of the Registry
Go with your base document (civil registration, identity card or anterior card). They will take your biometric data: photography, footprint and digital signature.
5. Wait for the issuance of the document
The production of the card takes between 30 and 45 business days. You can consult your status on the website of the Registry.
6. Receive the code to activate the digital card
Once your card is ready, you will receive a QR code and a link to activate your digital version on the cell phone.
7. Download the app and activate your digital card
Install the “Colombia Digital Card” application (available on Android and iOS). Scan the code, perform facial biometric verification and complete activation. From there, you can carry your card on the phone safely.
