This summit is led by the Ministry of Health and Environment and the Metropolitan Aqueduct of Bucaramanga.
Bucaramanga will become the global center of environmental protection with the fourth edition of the World Páramos Summit, a key event to defend water and Santurbán Páramo.
From October 29 to 30, at the Bucaramanga Metropolitan Aqueduct Water Park, experts from several countries will discuss ecological restoration, governance, environmental education and nature-based environmental solutions.
Initiated in 2022 by the Mayor’s Office of Bucaramanga, this summit is led by the Municipal Health and Environment Secretariat and the Bucaramanga Metropolitan Aqueduct.
The manager of the Metropolitan Aqueduct, Juan Carlos Suárez, highlighted that this edition seeks to raise awareness about the value of water and the protection of the Páramo de Santurbán, a vital source for the supply of the precious liquid in the region.
The 4th World Paramos Summit in Bucaramanga will be a meeting space and collective action that will bring together communities, institutions, experts and leaders to protect the paramos and promote sustainable solutions,” the organizers indicated.

The edition of 2025 brings together speakers from the United States, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Costa Rica and Colombia, who will share experiences in managing high Andean wetlands, essential to regulate the water cycle and mitigate the consequences of global warming.
Central topics include environmental law, climate adaptation and successful community governance models in Latin America.
The program is diverse: keynote talks, discussions, conferences, debates and practical workshops. There will be exhibitions of eco-friendly products, samples of services sustainable tourism and commercial offers linked to the care of water and the moors in Santander.
These activities promote the green economy and responsible tourism. The event is free and open to all audiences, including community leaders, students, public officials and citizens in general.
