The 38th edition of the Miami International Hispanic Theatre Festival continues

MIAMI, United States. – The International Hispanic Theatre Festival (FITH) in Miami celebrates its 38th edition From July 11 to August 4, three weeks in which theater companies from Latin AmericaSpain and the United States.

This year, the festival presents a total of 11 shows from eight countries: Argentina, Ecuador, Spain, the United States, Peru, Puerto Rico and Uruguay. The works will be performed in Spanish, and four of them will include English subtitles.

The official opening of FITH took place on July 11 at 8:30 pm at the Westchester Cultural Arts Center with the presentation of the play Hamlet by the Drama Cultural Association, La Plaza de Teatro PeruThe event will culminate on August 4 with the play Dissonance at 5:00 pm at the Avante Theater in Miami.

In addition to theatrical performances, the festival offers a variety of additional activities, including theater workshops and forums that will take place immediately following some performances. On July 20, International Children’s Day will be celebrated with events at the Key Biscayne Community Center and the Koubek Center Theater.

Also, a talk-presentation of the books is scheduled for this July 18 at 7:00 pm A History of Latinx Performing Arts in The US(volume one and two) by Beatriz J. Rizk, in dialogue with Professor Luis Carlos Fallon of the University of Miami at the Art Space of the Koubek Center.

The festival will also present the “A Lifetime of Dedication to the Performing Arts” award to Spanish actors and directors Juan Margallo and Petra Martínez on August 1 at 8:15 p.m., prior to the presentation of Dissonance in the Adrienne Arsht Center’s Carnival Studio Theater.

According to the festival’s organization, “this couple of excellent Spanish actors and directors has been awarded numerous prizes, including the 2022 National Theater Award granted by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Spain“.

The outbreak (Argentina) – July 18, 19 and 20 at the Koubek Center Theatre

Tribute to the Álvarez Quintero brothers (Spain) – July 19, 20 and 21 at the Adrienne Arsht Center Carnival Studio Theater

Barabbas, the story of a dog (Uruguay) – July 19, 20 and 21 at the Westchester Cultural Arts Center

La Celestina. Lita’s tragicomedy (Argentina) – July 26, 27 and 28 at the Adrienne Arsht Center Carnival Studio Theater

Ether (Puerto Rico) – July 26, 27 and 28 at the Westchester Cultural Arts Center

The Wrath of Narcissus (Venezuela) – July 26, 27 and 28 at the Koubek Center Theatre

Dissonance (United States, with Cuban actors) – August 1, 2, 3 and 4 at the Adrienne Arsht Center Carnival Studio Theater
