This Saturday the 26th, the National Road Safety Agency (ANSV) began with the simultaneous controls of breathalyzer throughout the country, with the help of the different provinces, municipalities and the National Transport Regulation Commission (CNRT).
This multidisciplinary initiative that involves different actors is called “breathalyzer Federal” and was held for the last time in October. In this case, the indicators, product of the controls throughout the territory framed in the Program mentioned, gave as a result that 3% of the drivers were circulating exceeding the blood alcohol limits.
On the other hand, breathalyzer Federal registered that 95% of the drivers gave zero alcohol in the tests carried out and the remaining 2% registered blood alcohol of less than 0.5, which, with the current jurisdiction, is allowed to circulate. However, it is already treated with a medium sanction in the Chamber of Deputies Project law called Zero Alcohol at the Wheel.
Pablo Martínez Carignano, executive director of ANSV, highlighted the results of the measure through: “This great work that We have been doing 24 editions together with provinces, municipalities and other organizations, it is achieving nothing more and nothing less than saving lives, which is the great objective that we who are responsible for road safety in the country have”.
Zero Alcohol at the Wheel Law
As its name indicates, this new law promulgates that you cannot drive motorized vehicles with alcohol in your blood, because this, although in small amounts, it decreases motor and vision abilities. Alcohol can also cause a feeling of security and a loss of inhibitions, which is why it is dangerous for motorbike drivers without a helmet or in cars without seat belts.
On October 12, the Zero Alcohol at the Wheel bill promoted by ANSV, achieved a positive opinion from the deputies that make up the Transportation commission. Just two days ago it already got half a sanction in the Chamber of Deputies for which it will be elevated to Senators.
