The 6,955 primary schools throughout Cuba open their doors this Monday to start the new school year, corresponding to the 2021-2022 period.
The pioneers join other students who have attended classes since March 7 at the levels of Basic Secondary, Pre-University, Professional Technical Education, pedagogical schools, Youth and Adult Education, together with sports and culture training organizations.
Ena Elsa Velázquez Cobiella, Minister of Education, said at a press conference that as of this Monday around one million 700 thousand students between children, adolescents, youth and adults continue their training in the country’s educational institutions.

Following the planning of the vaccination process, primary school students had a one week delay in the school calendar, however, they will finish the course on November 19, as established for the rest of the teachings.
According to the minister, conditions are guaranteed in all schools, the material base for study and life with limited standards, food and transportation if required, as well as the staggered delivery of school uniforms, in which the first and fifth grades.
The fabric for making the garments has already been contracted and financed, the owner said, and to the extent that they are produced, they will be delivered to the remaining grades, so that by April 30 the demand for the primary education.

On March 7, the new school period began in the national territory except in the province of Las Tunas and in 20 municipalities in other regions, where an advance in the calendar could be seen due to the good behavior of the pandemic indices in those areas.
