10.- Jesús Seade, a key player in the renegotiation of NAFTA between Mexico and the US

At the beginning of the government of the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, there was a renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), now called T-MEC, in which Jesús Seade had a relevant participation thanks to the good relationship that he has with his American counterparts such as Robert Lighthizer, a United States trade negotiator, and one of the characters who had all the confidence of former President Donald Trump.

He has been an economist with an international career as a researcher and academic leader at various universities in Europe, Mexico, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and mainland China.

After graduating in chemical engineering from UNAM, he earned B.Phil. and D.Phil. (PhD) in Economics from the University of Oxford (in the United Kingdom), working with the famous Nobel Prize winner James Mirrlees.

He was promoted to full professor of economics (chair) at the University of Warwick (United Kingdom) five years after completing his doctorate at Oxford, the youngest appointment of that prestigious institution, and was a professor in France (CEPREMAP), Brazil (IMPA ) and Founding Director of the Department of Economics at El Colegio de México.

He currently serves as Mexico’s ambassador to the People’s Republic of China.

11.- Jonathan Heath, deputy governor of the Bank of Mexico (Banxico).

He is an economist graduated from the Anahuac University, where he graduated with honors in 1978. He has accumulated more than 35 years of experience in the analysis of the Mexican economy and its perspectives, during which time he was considered the leading economist in Mexico for several global financial institutions and international consultancies.

He has worked as a professor at the Universidad Panamericana, the Tecnológico de Monterrey, the Universidad Anáhuac, the Universidad de las Américas, and the Universidad Iberoamericana, teaching courses related to the Mexican economy, its history, and its prospects. He was a full-time visiting professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Azcapotzalco from 2014 to 2016, teaching classes on Macroeconomics, monetary policy, inflation, and employment. He has been a guest lecturer at more than 50 universities in Mexico and the United States.

After the publication of his book: “What the Indicators Indicate: How to use statistical information to understand the economic reality of Mexico”, the Diploma on Macroeconomic Indicators of Mexico was implemented in the Educational Forum of the Interactive Museum of Economy (MIDE).

12.- Lorenzo Córdova, President Councilor of the INE.

In December 2011, Córdova Vianello arrived at the then Federal Electoral Institute, and before being appointed electoral advisor he was a full-time researcher at the UNAM Legal Research Institute.

Due to his performance in front of the INE and the controversies he has had mainly with the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, he has been seen as a presidential candidate, however, He has stated that the only ballots where his name will appear will be that of his students’ grades. since the official assured that as of April 4, 2023 they will be able to find it in the cubicle of the UNAM Legal Research Institute.

13.- Luis Videgaray, former head of the Treasury

The former head of the SHCP (2012-2016), and of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2017-2018), during the government of President Enrique Peña Nieto, is now a full professor at the Sloan School of Business Administration and Management at the Institute Massachusetts Technological (MIT).

In September 2020, students and graduates of the prestigious institute requested that he not be part of their ranks due to the allegations of corruption that weigh against him. However, managers closed ranks around the former official, so he continues to teach classes on Artificial Intelligence policies.

14.- Santiago Nieto, former head of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU)

The former head of the FIU and in charge of combating money laundering until his resignation in November 2021, after his wedding with the counselor of the National Electoral Institute Carla Humphrey, and that the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, described her as a “scandalous affair”, he is also a teacher, researcher and writer.

He collaborated as a Researcher at the Institute of Legal Research of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) from 2014 to 2015, according to his resume. In addition to that, he also serves as a professor in the postgraduate study divisions of the Universidad Panamericana and UNAM. He is also a member of the National System of Level II Researchers.
