Colombia, in the framework of the recovery that has been showing the tourism sector, He received 13 nominations at the World Travel Awards, the most important awards in the world and known as the Oscars of tourism, which recognize the best destinations, products and initiatives in the sector at a global level.
Among the nominations, the country participates for the awards in categories such as South America’s Leading Destination, Nature’s Leading Destination, Adventure Leading Destination, Gastronomy Leading Destination, Culture Leading Destination, among others.

“These nominations are a reflection of the synergy made between the National Government, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, and the country’s business sector, which has been seen in the good results we have obtained this year, and that have put Colombia as a world reference in terms of the recovery of tourism, after the pandemic. The arrival of international visitors, between January and March 2022, has grown 220% compared to the same period of the previous year, which allows us to project with optimism the behavior of the sector for the coming months”, pointed out Flavia Santoro, president of ProColombia.
According to ForwardKeys, a platform focused on tourism issues, the country is part of the global ‘top’ 10 in terms of tourism recovery, ranking number 8.

In the same sense, according to Official Aviation Guide (OAG), Colombia is one of the 20 countries with the largest air capacity in the world, and the third in Latin America. Currently, 10 cities in the country have connections with 42 international destinations in 26 countries, operated by 26 airlines.
