Texas oil closes at $79.49; fuels in the DR remain the same

Gobierno mantiene congelados los precios de los combustibles

The oil price intermediate of Texas (WTI) closed this Friday with a decrease of 2.1% and stood at 79.49 dollars, returning to below the barrier of 80 dollars, when investors are waiting for what the WTI will decide. OPEC+ on crude oil production when it meets on October 5.

At the end of the operations in the New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex) on this last day of September, the futures contracts of the WTI for delivery in November they subtracted 1.74 dollars from the previous close.

Last week US crude closed at a similar figure, 78.74 dollars, but on the last day of August black gold closed at 86.27 dollars.

Read: Fuel prices remain unchanged

The main factor behind the fall in prices is the fear of a recession, fueled by the rise in interest rates that have also influenced the strengthening of the dollar -affecting the competitiveness of WTI- and which points to a reduction in the demand.

In recent days, several reports suggest that Russia could recommend to OPEC + to reduce its production by one million barrels per day at its next meeting, in an attempt to stop the fall in prices.

Experts also expect a cut in production due to fears of a drop in demand due to a possible global economic slowdown and the strength of the dollar.

Natural gas futures for October fell 10 cents to $6.76, and gasoline futures due the same month were down 3 cents to $2.47 a gallon.
