The main factor behind the fall in prices is the fear of a recession, fueled by the rise in interest rates that have also influenced the strengthening of the dollar -affecting the competitiveness of WTI- and which points to a reduction in the demand.
In recent days, several reports suggest that Russia could recommend to OPEC + to reduce its production by one million barrels per day at its next meeting, in an attempt to stop the fall in prices.
Experts also expect a cut in production due to fears of a drop in demand due to a possible global economic slowdown and the strength of the dollar.
Natural gas futures for October fell 10 cents to $6.76, and gasoline futures due the same month were down 3 cents to $2.47 a gallon.
