The governor of Texas, Republican Greg Abbott, threatened this Wednesday to send undocumented migrants to Washington DC in response to the decision of the Joe Biden government to lift the health regulations that allowed them to be expelled due to the covid-19 pandemic.
“To help communities overwhelmed by hordes of immigrants illegal immigrants left by the Biden Administration, Texas will provide buses to send these immigrants to Washington DC,” the politician said at a press conference.
The governor, known for his ultra-conservative positions, assured that the buses will leave the migrants on the steps of the Capitol in the US capital.
Where the Biden Administration “will be able to immediately attend to their needs,” he said.
Governor of Texas speaks about undocumented
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that on May 23 the Title 42.
This is a regulation that allows the express expulsion of undocumented immigrants as a result of the pandemic.
The CDC considers that the sanitary conditions are no longer met to maintain said regulations established in 2020 by the Donald Trump government.
Likewise, that Biden continues to maintain, and is highly criticized by human rights organizations.
Open door policy
Abbott, who is running for re-election as governor of Texas, said that Biden applies an “open door” policy at the border.
Which leads to “unprecedented” numbers of border crossings.
For this reason, he assured that starting in May, when Title 42 is lifted, his government will take “actions that no other state in the history of the United States has ever taken.”
Which would be the case of sending undocumented buses to the capital.
Will redouble vehicle inspections
He also announced that the Texas Department of Public Safety will redouble vehicle inspections with a “zero tolerance policy” against trucks used by migrant smugglers.
The federal government explains that the lifting of Title 42 is a health measure taken independently by the CDC.
In addition, in May, Title 8, the regular mechanism for deportations, will be applied again.
The governments of Arizona, Louisiana and Missouri filed a lawsuit on Monday against the Biden government for its decision to suspend the use of Title 42.
