The first day of events of the Paralympic Athletics World Cup in Nova Delhi, India, was highly productive for Brazilian athletes. This Saturday (27), two of them won gold and increased the collection of world titles.
Petrúcio Ferreira arrived at the 100 meters T47 (upper limb disability), while Beth Gomes reached Tetra at the F53 album release (athletes who compete).
The balance of the first day had two more silver, with Yeltsin Jacques, at 5,000m T11 (visual impairment) and Vinícius Cabral in 100m T71 (Petra).
Dispute
The five -time championship of Paraíba Petrúcio Ferreira came in an extremely disputed final. The sprinter stayed first with the time of 10s66, but the difference to the second place, the Chinese Shi Kangjun, was only two hundredths, while the third place, the Moroccan Ayamane El Haddoui, arrived only four hundredths later. Another Brazilian, Thomaz Ruan, who finished the race only 0s16 behind Petrúcio, was fourth, outside the podium.
Beth Gomes’s gold came quietly. She recorded 17.35m in the final of the F53 album release, more than three meters ahead of the second place, the Ukrainian Zoia Ovsill, which launched 14.16m. The podium was completed by Elena Gorlova, who competed without flag and recorded 13.10m. The Paralympic Athletics World Cup runs until Sunday, October 5th.
