Tests to detect Covid-19 will be distributed according to needs through a census in various regions of the country

Through the Extraordinary Cabinet Council, held this Monday afternoon, it approved the purchase of tests to detect Covid-19 and antiviral drugs for the treatment of this disease, through an exceptional procedure via online quotation, through the Panama Compra portal.

The general director of Public Health of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), Melva Cruz, referred to the issue indicating that the contract was approved to acquire treatment with monoclonal antibodies for high-risk patients, who have Covid and the acquisition of 450 thousand serological tests. and 200,000 immunofluorescence tests and 200,000 PCR tests.

The doctor explained that the tests that are going to be acquired “are going to be distributed according to the needs. A census is made of all the regions in all our facilities.”

He mentioned that the concern that the authorities had regarding the home tests was how the traceability process was going to be followed. “If someone takes a test at home, we are at the expense of whether they report or not,” he said.

He commented that these home tests are very similar to those done in health facilities and there are different proposals.

It should be noted that the approval of the council of ministers was given through the draft Cabinet resolution 08-22 that gives the green light to the exceptional contracting procedure for the acquisition of 25,000 treatments of Molnupiravir and Paxlovid for $7 million, reported the Presidency of the Republic.
