Terracota: the obligatory stop in the city of Areguá

Located just 30 km from Asunción, this new restaurant offers options for breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner. They also have brunch. Terracota, which means modeled clay and hardened in the oven, is located in a place of great architectural, patrimonial and cultural value in Areguá. A beautiful house where the synergy between the old and the modern, the traditional and the contemporary was achieved.

Authentic recipes and a pleasant atmosphere are part of Terracota’s proposal. Ideal to go to eat delicious meals and tour the city, buy handicrafts and get to know Areguá. This project was born from the hand of a group of young entrepreneurs: the brothers Mónica, Rubén and Carlos González and Gino Matteucci, who wanted to honor an old family house. The place has indoor and outdoor options.

The house has original details that do not go unnoticed and is full of memories, objects that hold stories of great sentimental value, as well as numerous touches that provide a very homey atmosphere. A variety of furniture ends up integrating perfectly and creating a relaxing environment. The tableware was created exclusively by artisans from the area.

One of the most pleasant environments is the patio, perfect for meetings with family, couples or friends. It is characterized by being the most relaxed place in the house. Here, the picadas and the pizzas are the stars. It has a grill and a tatakuá. In addition, in a second stage, the group’s goal is to enable a spectacular underground cellar that will house a wide variety of wine labels.

The chef, Manuel Recalde, is in charge of shaping a cuisine based on traditional dishes, but with an innovative twist. The food is characterized by being homemade, Creole and contemporary. The menu is extensive and includes varieties of protein, including lamb, duck, beef, fish, among others. They also offer pastas, soups, sandwiches, and salads.

The menu is full of dishes that are eaten in Paraguay. Local ingredients are of great importance and there is no shortage of proposals such as Mandi’o Chyryry, Surubí Soup, Chicharõ Hu’itĩ and others. The flagship dish is the Pernil De Ossobuco on Rora Kyra’s bed. The national desserts are prepared to delight the most demanding palates, among them the Andai Kamby, the Mazamorra and the Arroz pudding stand out. Beers, traditional drinks and signature drinks complete this great gastronomic offer.Terracota: the obligatory stop in the city of Areguá
