The Electoral Court of the Judicial Power of the Federation (TEPJF) confirmed the responsibility of Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard, in the violation of the principle of neutrality and impartiality, due to his active participation in a proselytizing act in Hidalgo.

In connection with this matter, Judge Felipe Fuentes Barrera issued a reasoned vote – without precedent in the Superior Chamber of this court – in which he pronounced himself in favor of greater participation in politics. and that the voter realizes, evidences, determines, reasons on the way of thinking or on the way of acting or the ideology of who is going to be a candidate or who intends to be..

Although he voted in favor of the project, based on which the ruling of the Hidalgo Electoral Tribunal against the official and the Morena, Labor and Nueva Alianza parties was confirmed, Fuentes warned that the political communication model is no longer up to date. because now the characters broadcast messages not only through regulated spots but through a range of social networks.

The reasoned vote becomes relevant if it is considered that both the Superior Chamber and the regional ones of the TEPJF will continue to resolve similar cases, in which, for example, the meaning of the messages broadcast on their networks by potential candidates is denounced.

The magistrate spoke of the convenience of broadening the political debate and achieving full democratic participation, in order to have higher quality elections.

In this sense, he mentioned the advantage that citizens know the positions of officials who eventually contend for a position of popular representation, as long as the server meets constitutional restrictions, such as refraining from using public resources to influence electoral processes.

Then he pronounced himself in favor of the magistrates evolving, being more liberal in their interpretations because today there is a social reality different from that of 2007, when the current model of political communication was created.
