Another Brazilian to go on the WTA 250 level tournament was Ana Candiotto. Acting as a guest of the competition organization, the Paulista surpassed Ukrainian Valeriya Strakhova by 2 sets to 1 (6/3, 5/7 and 6/0).
“It was a very hard game from start to finish. I started playing very well there, the second set was also with the game there to close, but I was a little nervous. I think it’s normal too, first time I played a WTA 250, which I got close to winning a game. And then, then I was able to zero my head and start well in the third set, which was essential to get the victory.”
