The Municipality of Montevideo (IM) reported this Sunday at noon the result of the cleaning, coexistence and transit operations carried out during the night of Saturday, December 31 and the early morning of Sunday, January 1.

Regarding the cleaning of the capital, the commune reported that 10 waste containers were set on fire and only one overturned on public roads.

Regarding waste collection, the Municipality assures that prior to this weekend work had been completed on 95.8% of the city’s containers, “resulting in a very robust floor for waste management during the New Year’s holiday and for the next few days ”, says the official statement of the commune.

The IM reminds that the service to report overflowing containers or with waste around them is active. To do this, you must send a photo and location to WhatsApp 092-250-260.

“This clean zone service has up to 25 active motorcycles in the morning shift today, Sunday from 6 am, and up to 30 active motorcycles are expected in the evening shift that will be on the streets until 10 pm today (Sunday),” details the Municipality .

This complaint and collection service has an average of 1,122 “daily attentions, with a peak of 2,204 requests on December 26,” says the departmental government.

“The side collection of containers restarts today, Sunday at 10:00 p.m. in the night shift, prioritizing collection according to areas with the highest generation and according to the daily ranking. It is worth noting that the latest report from the Fleet Maintenance Management reported an availability of 30 side collection trucks available for use for tonight’s night shift,” reports IM.

Transit

Regarding the transit operation for the January 1 holiday, the Municipality reports that the control and inspection of the consumption of alcohol and other substances in drivers was carried out, as well as situations that hinder mobility on the streets of the capital.

The commune highlights that there was a “low number of vehicles in the city” and that “at 10 a.m. on January 1, 2023, 90 controls have been carried out on drivers, which include document control and spirometry, of which one (1) turned out to be positive.”

Coexistence

The Municipality of Montevideo also reports that during the night of January 31 and the early morning of January 1, the Departmental Coexistence Service (with inspectors and police) “toured the authorized events and public spaces to control their normal development, compliance with regulations and proper use of the community areas.

“There were 150 premises visited in total throughout December 31 and the early morning of January 1. The complaints were few and the early morning of the 1st passed with particular calm”, indicates the official report.

“Only one complaint was reported in a private home and a local for activity in the afternoon,” he details. In addition, four fines were applied for events in premises without permission.
