The Department of Geophysics of the Zagreb Faculty of Natural Sciences reported this Monday that its seismographs recorded seismic movements during the celebrations for the team’s victory Croatian football game against Brazil on Friday.
On their Facebook page, Croatian experts published seismograms that prove the movements, and explain that the undulations are not typical of “real earthquakes.”
During the quarterfinals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Croatia eliminated the historic Brazil and thus secured their place in the semifinals. The fact was celebrated very powerfully in various regions of Croatia.
According to a cable from the agency efethe first registered movements coincided with the moment in which Bruno Petkovic managed to tie the game (1-1) in the second part of extra time.
Another decisive moment also occurred when the goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic saved the first penalty, and finally when the Croats won the game after the penalty missed by the Brazilian Marquinhos.
The seismographs assure that the most striking seismographic alterations were registered in Zagreb and Rijeka, the two main cities of the Balkan country, where there were crowds of fans following the historic match.
The image of the seismogram is accompanied by the message: “So you don’t think we’re fooling you.”
Croatia and Argentina will face each other this Tuesday in the semifinal match in Qatar 2022.
