One more time, Cesar Acuna. The governor of Freedom has once again been the point of ridicule after launching one of his well-known phrases, this time, at an official APP event where he tried to defend his management in the face of criticism and questions.
“They say: ‘Acuña’s government is the worst government, the government has done nothing for the districts.’ There are more than 200 works, it seems like they don’t know how to add them up,” he said during the inauguration of a health center in El Porvenir.
The event occurred on January 6 and his phrase drew more attention than his attempt to save himself from criticism, where he also made reference to regional councilor Robert de la Cruz, who is one of his main critics.
“You have seen that the campaign for the regional and provincial governments has moved forward a lot. And I am worried that a candidate who defends criminals wants to be mayor,” said Acuña, after rumors that put De la Cruz as a candidate for mayor of Trujillo.
It was precisely at this moment that he said the curious phrase that generated ridicule.
“If you defend criminals, the saying goes: ‘Tell me who you are with and I will tell you who you are.’ In other words, a criminal (Robert de la Cruz) wants to be mayor. You will already know who it is”.
It should be remembered that Acuña is not only dealing with questions against his management as regional governor, but that his APP party is in the eye of the storm after complaints about an alleged prostitution network that operates within the Congress of the Republic.
The investigation began after the murder of Andrea Vidal Gómez, a former parliamentary advisor, who was attacked by hitmen in La Victoria and died days later due to the severity of her injuries.
