A 16-year-old teenager died on the afternoon of Tuesday, January 6, in an accident that occurred at the San Juan de los Morros airfield, capital of the Guárico state. A small plane and a motorcycle were involved in the incident.
According to information collected at the scene, the incident occurred when a young man riding a motorcycle entered the airfield runway just as an aircraft was performing landing maneuvers. Not realizing the proximity of the small plane, he was hit by one of its wings when the pilot tried to avoid it, regional media reported.
The victim was identified as Enrique Alexander Daza Mosqueda, who was left lying on the pavement after the impact and died instantly.
The death occurred as a result of severe head trauma, a fracture in an upper extremity and massive bleeding, according to the preliminary report. Daza Mosqueda was in his fifth year of high school at the Martín Ramón Blanco Educational Complex, located in the Olympic Village of San Juan de los Morros. In addition, he was recognized for his participation and performance in the athletics discipline.
Competent authorities of the jurisdiction went to the site to begin investigations and determine the exact circumstances in which the young man managed to enter the airfield runway at the time of the aircraft landing.
