Technology companies come together and launch scholarships to study programming online: see how to apply

Certified Tech Developer is an educational initiative to train developers that follows the highest industry standards.

The program, which has already been launched in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay and Chile, has received more than 170,000 registrations, which is why Digital House, together with Mercado Libre and Globant, decided to redouble the bet and launch 1,000 new 100% scholarships for Mexico, Uruguay, Colombia, Chile, Peru and Ecuador.

It should be noted that last year more than 360 scholarships were awarded in Uruguay alone.

The program is part of the need for profiles with programming knowledge is great. The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) estimated a deficit of more than 1,000,000 programmers in Latin America by 2025.

“We are proud that Uruguay was one of the first countries to have these scholarships and that it was later exported to the rest of Latin America. This program will allow 1,000 people from the entire region to access an educational proposal with quick job opportunities and is in line with our objective of democratizing opportunities so that more people can get involved in the technology sector and promote the industry. ”, affirmed Diego Garagorry, Country Manager of Globant Uruguay.

“We had a very successful first experience in Uruguay last year, with more than 360 scholarship holders. We still do not have graduate students, due to the start date of the course, but in the rest of the countries where we launched this initiative a long time ago, we have more than 90 graduates who already work in technology, not only at Mercado Libre and Globant, but also in other companies. We are very happy with the development of the program and that is why we announce these new 100% scholarships, so that more people can access this great opportunity”, explained Patricia Blanco, Country Lead of Mercado Libre Uruguay.

“Many years ago, programming was associated with something difficult and tedious due to the processing speed of the machines, but today programming is creating, designing, relating, playing, and today all of us can do it. In addition, it is a great opportunity for get a job that suits how you want to live. With the scholarships we are launching, we hope that more people will be encouraged and have access to this new digital world through training,” said Nelson Duboscq, CEO & Founder Digital House.

Registration to apply for the 100% scholarship began on March 29 and will run until July 3, 2023. To take the program it is not necessary to have prior knowledge of technology.

Those who are interested can apply at this link. The entire process of registration, selection and notification of the scholarships is done online and the courses will also be 100% remote. The selected profiles have the possibility to start studying in the months of May or July 2023. The program lasts approximately 2 years, in which it is sought that students incorporate technical knowledge and a series of fundamental soft skills to facilitate the labor insertion in the most disruptive companies in the world and with the best salaries in the market. Some of the positions that you can apply for upon graduation are Frontend Dev sSr, Backend Dev sSr, Full Stack Dev sSr, QA Analyst Jr, Database Analyst Jr or Infrastructure Analyst.
