Technological tests for the 2023 Census advance at a good pace

The process for the 2023 Population and Housing Census is progressing positively, since since the start of the Technological Test test on September 18, 14,157 homes have been visited, of the 18,055 planned in the cartographic update.

The National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC) assured that to date the percentage visited is acceptable since it represents 78.4%, which exceeds the estimate of 66.6% of visits.

They highlighted that the information is updated every day according to the delivery of data from the enumerators.

The Comptroller General of the Republic, Gerardo Solís indicated that this is a country project, “It is a State project in which we all have a lot to contribute due to the importance that these data represent as an engine in the economy of a country. The Comptroller-INEC contributes its expertise and professionalism with qualified personnel for these tasks.”

According to the figures, 2.2% of people who have been visited have refused to give information or to “open the door to the Technological Test”. This percentage is considered high, for the total number of dwellings visited.

In addition, 14.4% of homes were recorded with their occupants absent, so a recovery week will be enabled to return to these homes. This situation is typical of dormitory cities, whose behavior is being analyzed in this field operation.

The Technological Test seeks to test the technological tools, the use of Mobile Capture Devices (DMC), the traffic of field information to the servers and the process flows for the XII Population Census and VIII Housing Census of the 2020 decade.

Tocumen, in Panama East, Capira in the province of Panama West and in the town of Altos de Los Lagos in the province of Colón were the 3 points selected to verify the technological process and procedure.
