THE Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE)official data agency such as inflation and labor market, said on Tuesday (12) that Technical problems will delay, in 18 days, the dissemination of the National Continuous Household Sample Survey (PNAD), a survey that points to the unemployment rate in the country.
Instead of being known on August 29, unemployment data related to the quarter ended in July will be released on September 16, according to a statement from the IBGE Research Directorate.
“Due to the need for adjustments and corrections of technological inconsistencies identified in the process of transmission of household selection of collection management systems for continuous PNAD collection devices, it was necessary to change the field collection schedule of July 2025,” the note records.
IBGE detailed that the closing of the July collection bank, initially scheduled to take place in the first week of August, was transferred to the second week of the month. “Thus, all production steps performed after the field collection was closed.”
Labor market portrait
THE Each quarter, 211,000 households in 3,500 municipalities in all states and the Federal District are visited by the researchers. PNAD proposes to be the main research on labor market in the country.
The portrait of the level of occupation is done on information collected from people 14 years old or older and takes into account all forms of work, whether or without a signed, temporary and own portfolio, for example.
By IBGE criteria, the person who effectively seeks employment is only considered unoccupied.
PNAD is different from the General Register of Employees and Unemployed (CAGED), prepared by the Ministry of Labor and Employment, which provides data only related to workers with a formal contract.
Regular calendar
THE IBGE reported that the delay in the mobile quarter survey ended in July will not affect the calendar of the other quarters. Check here The full schedule.
HeyNtttess also stated that the dissemination of the continuous quarterly PNAD is maintained next Friday (15). Unlike monthly PNAD (disclosed every month), which always brings data from mobile quarters, quarterly research (released every 90 days) brings specific data on fixed quarters (periods ending in March, June, September and December), with specific analysis related to gender, age, instruction and color.
Positive record in June
The most recent disclosure of PNAD Continuous Monthly, referring to the quarter ended in June and released on the last day 31, pointed out that the Brazil presented unemployment rate of 5.8%the smallest ever recorded in the Institute’s historical series, which began in 2012.
