On August 21, a fact of violence shuddered Colombia: in the rural area of ​​Amalfi, Antioquia, a police helicopter was attacked with explosives. The tragedy left a balance of 13 dead uniformed, but also a history of resilience and hope.

Among the victims could be the patrolman of the anti -narcotics police Diego Alejandro Herrera, who miraculously survived the attack. “It saddens me, since bringing that memory to my mind makes me very nostalgic, missing my classmates, missing my second brothers, my second family,” Herrera told Blu Radio on August 30.

The uniformed recalled that everything happened in seconds. He was fulfilling his work as a canine guide in explosive detection when he heard the impact. “I simply remember that there was a first latent attack … when I already embarked on the aircraft I feel a rumble, the only thing I remember was going around the aircraft since it broke in two. When I became aware of myself, I was injured,” he said.

Telmo’s fate, his canine companion

In the midst of confusion, Telmo trace was lost, the anti -narcotics dog that accompanied Herrera in the missions. At first it was thought that he had died in the explosion, but according to information from Caracol Radio, the canine had been disoriented and ended up in the hands of an illegal group.

For several days, his whereabouts was uncertain, until last Sunday, according to the aforementioned medium, the illegals decided to send it in a public transport chiva to the Anorí Police Station, in the Northeast Antioquia. There he was received by the commander of the station and remained under shelter until the reunion with his guide.

A reunion that moved the country

Patrolman Herrera and Telmo met again in a scene full of emotion. Between applause from his companions and tears of whom they witnessed, the uniformed hugged his inseparable four -legged friend.

“I feel very excited, I feel very happy to be here again with Telmo. Give him very much to my anti -narcotics police for allowing me the reunion with my friend,” said the patrolman.

In social networks, the moment went viral. “God manifests in many ways, puppies are angels sent by him,” a user wrote. “How sad, made me cry … What an unconditional and sincere love,” said another person.

Meanwhile, Herrera continues with her recovery. “I’m still recovering from wounds, mentally and physically, but it’s time to move on, it’s time to continue fighting for this country,” Caracol told news.

A story of pain, loss and resilience, but also of hope and unconditional love, reflected in the reunion of a uniformed and his dog, who now be together again.
