Santiago.- The educational community of Arroyo Frío, in La Cumbre, closed the school here, for fear that their children could be buried by its collapse, after this campus was cracked due to recent earthquakes.
Parents and teachers demonstrated with lighting candles, banners and dressed in black to draw the attention of the authorities to the abandonment of the school.
“We are orphans of minister of EducationBecause we have been denouncing the collapses in the center for years and what they do is send the engineers, they measure and they don’t come back and the problem is getting worse,” said Georgina Abreu, president of the Association of Fathers, Mothers and Friends of the School.
He said that they decided that students not return to classrooms while their lives are in danger due to the poor state of the infrastructure of the school campus.

Abreu explained that teachers and administrative staff go to the school despite the risk that this building represents.
“We have suspended teaching due to the landslides, the fence on the ground and other problems. We have been asking you to come for a long time. We are mourners and orphans of the Minister of Education,” Abreu told the press.
Parents and teachers fear that the school building could collapse at any moment, due to the cracks and the constant tremors that occur in the country.
