Teachers will resume protests against Onapre in January

The Venezuelan Federation of Teachers announced that during the month of January they will resume the street protests against the Onapre instructive and to demand that the State comply with the collective contract.

Belkis Bolívar, leader of the Venezuelan Federation of Teachershe said in an interview for Union Radio that they had to cancel some premiums, but they only paid them two weeks of the first half of December.

“At this point, there has not been a satisfactory response from the National Executive regarding the collective agreement. Neither, about the salary increases that will be incorporated with the collective bargaining, and a debt of almost 300% », he added.

Professor Edgar Machado regretted that Venezuelan teachers cannot have a Christmas celebration as they deserve, because the wages they cannot cover even a third part of the basic food basket.

“We have been discussing the collective agreement for a year and the economic proposal became a pure lie,” he added.

Bolívar affirmed that the discussion of the collective contract is paralyzed. “For this reason, for next year we have to go out again to claim the collective contract and social security. We cannot continue to settle for social networks,” he said.

Machado announced that on January 9, at 9:00 am, they will again protest in the streets, they began with a concentration in Parque Carabobo.
