The Neuquén Education Workers Association (ATEN) mobilized this Thursday from the center of the provincial capital to the Neuquén Legislature to demand the treatment of a bill that excludes Income Tax from the payment of the unfavorable zone, in the framework of a provincial strike for 24 hours.
“The salary is not profit, it is practically immoral that a law that was born to prevent the evasion of companies falls today with the weight that falls on the salary of thousands and thousands of workers”said the general secretary of ATEN, Marcelo Guagliardo, in a ceremony held at the doors of the provincial Legislature, after which they were received by legislators.
Likewise, he pointed out that “we have been fighting for this for 15 years”, and said that “we have presented unitary projects so that the concept ‘additional by zone’ is excluded, because the zone is due to higher costs, it is not a profit.”
Guagliardo explained that “we have gone from 2,000 colleagues who paid Income Tax in March to almost 8,000 in October, when salaries are paid with the CPI (Consumer Price Index)“.
“The CPI is a way to protect wages from inflation and by acting withholding by fourth category, it ends up being well below inflation and ends up being a salary confiscation that does not resist anymore and must be resolved,” he said.
In addition, the teachers’ union demands the Appointment of positions (duplas) at the initial and primary levelsthat the provincial government guarantees resources in educational infrastructure in the budget 2023 and that the sustainability of the province’s pension system be guaranteed.
The general secretary of ATEN stated that “the provincial deputies have the floor”, and assured that “if the answer is not immediate with the issue of profits, this organization will convene the assemblies to collectively digitize the continuity of our plan of struggle” .
Guagliardo together with teachers who represent the union in the Provincial Council of Education and in the Social Security Institute, were received by deputies from all the blocks after the act they carried out at the door of the Provincial Legislature.
